About Me
Lynn Friedman, Ph.D., FABP, is a clinical psychologist, a board certified, psychoanalyst and a Training and Supervising Analyst and a Johns Hopkins faculty member. Also, she provides supervision to Georgetown University Psychiatric residents. In addition to analyzing and supervising psychoanalysts-in-training, psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals, she welcomes people from a wide array of professional backgrounds and interests. Her practice practice includes, professors, physicians, attorneys and others from an array of backgrounds, especially, those who are curious, thoughtful, introspective and seek more meaningful emotional connections. She works well with people who are particularly interested in deepening their understanding of themselves and having more fulfilling connections with others. Typically, people who reach out to her want more than just relief from anxiety, depression, work-life difficulties and challenging relationships - they seek greater self-awareness as a way to overcome these difficulties and develop deeper relationships with others. Beyond this, reflecting the vibrant fabric of Washington DC’s cosmopolitan and international community, she sees people from all over the U.S. and from all over the world, representing all races and creeds. She values this diversity and recognizes the important role that culture may play. Her scholarly interests include a commitment to helping analysts to overcome intrapsychic, institutional and organizational/cultural barriers to helping patients enter psychoanalysis. Similarly, she actively advocates for psychoanalysis, and the utility of psychoanalytic ideas, in the popular media. To learn more about her, see her website: drlynnfriedman.com.
